We’ve been sick

One thing you can always count on in a large family.  The same kids that wouldn’t be caught dead sharing toys and video games, can’t wait to share their illnesses.  This time it was a stomach bug.  It started last weekend with my oldest, moved on to my older daughter Friday, and Saturday it hit both dh and I. The kicker, dh is working out of town and was supposed to come home Saturday, but he was too busy worshipping the porcelain goddess to make the drive.  I’m feeling better today in that I’m hungry and want food, but then when I eat it, I still feel queasy.  I guess I can handle queasy over it’s nastier relative.  Oh, and so far the younger two have been fine. How much you want to bet they come down with it tomorrow so that I can’t ship them off to school?

I did manage to get some scrapping done late last night. After sleeping all day long, I couldn’t go to sleep at night.  This first one uses the Amelia kit by Digitreats.  Make sure you scroll down to the SAS-y Treats section of this blog entry, because she has an Amelia Add-On freebie for you.  The template is by Amy Watson, and it’s for the October template challenge at Happy Scrapz.  The font is Hurricane.

And this second one uses Twilight Dance by TerrellS.  The kit includes these wonderful papers with butterflies and dancing fairies that I really, really wanted to use, but it was too busy with the floral border on top and the frame, and on the bottom, you couldn’t enough detail.  I’ll have to use those  papers another time.  This template was very loosely based on one by Charla Buchanan for the Seaside Scraps October template challenge. It’s so loosely based, that I’m not sure she’ll even accept it.  What can I say, the LO ran away from me?  I think I was just inspired by all the great stuff in Terrell’s kit.  The font is Mail Art.

SAS-y Treats:

It’s a Girl Thing on Pamela’s blog. And she also has an add-on to her Amelia kit.  I wish I’d seen this before I scrapped with Amelia.  lol
Elizabeth has Pink and Black frames. I hope you got the last SAS Newsletter, because she had the papers in there. Sherah has a layered template that’s inspired by her Waynesboro kit.
Terrell has part 3 of Da Blues.

I don’t do politics

At least I don’t do them on my blog. In real life, I’m actually quite politically active, but in the world of digi-scrapping politics don’t have a place, IMO.  Digi-scrapping is a place where everyone, regardless of country can get together to speak one common language, and it’s a language that has no boundries.  I’m thrilled when I read my comments and a see “danke” or “gracias”, when I offer a freebie.  But I don’t consider the ad below to be a political issue at all. It’s a health issue, it’s an issue for us, and for future generations for hundreds of years.  Please watch the video, and, if you agree with me, sign the petition.   Thanks.

Halloween Wreath Freebie
October 13, 2007, 2:01 pm

I’m so excited.  I was up until 3 in the morning, working on this.  The bows were the hard part.  I had some commercial use bows I could recolor, but I couldn’t get the look I wanted with those. Finally I found a tutorial and made mine from scratch.  I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. Actually, this was my second attempt at an element. Before I made the wreath, I made this ghost.  I’m not sure what I think of it.  I didn’t include it in the zip file because I might play around with it more and maybe add a friend or two and have it later in the week.  Please let me know what you think.

Now, I wouldn’t presume to call this an add-on, because I don’t possess Elizabeth’s skill, but the colors in this ghost, and the wreath, are inspired by Pillowgirl’s Halloween Papers, available at SAS for just $2.  If you click on the image you can go right to this product in the store.

I also have two LOs I want to show off.  I made this first one with Pamela’s Halloween Kit, also available at SAS.  You can get it for just $3.99  The template is by Michaele Burkhart and the font is Matejo.

And this second one was Layout of the Day yesterday at Moo Two.  It’s made with Lisa West’s Frightful Fun kit, available at SAS for $3.99.  The template is by Silvya Markwardt.

If you use any of these products in a LO, we’d love to see them in the SAS gallery.  Halloween LOs are going to be featured in our next newsletter.  And here’s your freebie.  Please remember this is my first try, so I really would appreciate your feedback, both on this and it you want to receive the ghost I showed you above.  Don’t just grab the freebie and run, either, because if you scroll past the preview, I’ve links to some other great freebies you can snag.  By the way, for those of you used to my offering two sizes in templates, there’s only one size here. The wreath is a healthy size for a 12×12 LO, but can easily be sized down for smaller pages. I’ve also included all the pumpkins you see and the ghost as separate .png files in case you only want to use a few of them.  Click HERE to get the wreath.

Elizabeth has her last paper foundations freebie pack on her blog. I hope you’ve been snagging them all along.  If you have, you have a huge paper pack now. Lisa West has a template for you. Make sure you check out the adorable LO she made with it, using her Touch of Pizzazz kit.
JulieO is taking a break from Delicious Berry Blue to give you a sampler from her new kit Vintage Rose.  The full kit is HUGE, and it’s on sale only until Tuesday night.  You can get the full mega kit, which contains both the regular kit and the add-on, for the same price as the regular kit, so it’s like getting the add-on free! Sherah also has a CT call. You know, I have to tell you, I’ve been working with Sherah for about three months now, and she was always good, but lately her designs are getting better and better.  You really don’t want to miss this opportunity to get her great designs for free.
Terrell has the first of a multipart freebie for you, Da Blues. Sherah has this lovely Daydream Overlay which coordinates with her new kit in the SAS store.

Pamela really is the queen of unusual templates.  This Pumpkin one is so sweet! She also has some word art that coordinates with the Retro kit she gave away earlier this week

It’s been too long again

I meant to blog this weekend, but the kids and I cleaned up the downstairs and then brought out our Halloween decorations. We actually get into Halloween even more than Christmas. Brandon set up our big inflatable cat in the front of the house.   Tonight, since I’m pretty much finished with this week’s SAS newsletter, I thought I’d take a look around and see what I’ve been missing in the digi scrap world.  First off, I’ve got to show you this:

Our SAS-y Designers have cooked up a bunch of Halloween treats for you, and I’d love to show off your LOs in our next newsletter.  Simply post your LOs using one or more of these kits in the forum, and post a link in this thread.  Just as soon as Wednesday’s newsletter is totally finished, I’m going to be digging into our Halloween photos (or taking some new ones), so I can scrap with these awesome products.

More SAS-y Goodness:

Elizabeth has some Color Foundations-Green papers for you. Terrell has a Halloween freebie on her blog.
Candee has these papers called At the Cape.  She’s going to have additional pieces to this collection in the next SAS newsletter, and more over the next few weeks, until you have a complete kit.  Are you signed up for the SAS newsletter?  It’s the only way you’ll be able to collect the rest of this kit, so register at the SAS forum, and make you have “Accept email from administrators” checked.

Digitreats has a QP for you. And here’s a little kit she made it from.
JulieO. has part 2 of Delicious Berry Blue on her blog.

And other good stuff:

You can still snag Dogwood 9. Amy W. has a Softness add-on. Lilipruneau has part 3 of Sweet Wasabi.
Jenny Cereal wants you to Let this Little Light Shine. Lindsay Jane has an Autumn Hues paper pack and the matching elements.

Marcee, aka Rose Made Designs, has this Timeless Love freebie. Aaron, my family tree rescuer, has another great template for you.

A Very Special Thank You!

Two nights ago, at bedtime, my youngest informed me that she needed to bring in a family picture to school the next day.  That’s a problem. The last time we sat for a family portrait my oldest (now 13), was 1 1/2 years old and we were a family of 3, not 6.  I mentioned that to her and she kind of looked at me like I was an idiot and said, “well scrap one.”  Did I mention I think she might be a genius?  I got busy putting the finishing touches on the SAS newsletter and it wasn’t until around 1:30 in the morning that it hit me, I forgot the family picture.  I started working on a family tree LO, but it was slow going. I couldn’t get the trunk right. But wait!  Hadn’t I seen a family tree template somewhere?  I started wracking my brain, trying to remember where, and finally, I had it narrowed down to two. It was one of the “guy scrappers”, Derek or Aaron (Sir Scrapalot).  Derek’s been pretty busy with his awesome Halloween papers, ergo, it had to be Aaron, and sure enough, when I visited his blog, there it was!  So I have Aaron to thank for the fact that I managed to get at least a little sleep on Tuesday night.  Thank you, Aaron!

Want to see my final LO?  I used the highly versatile September Mega Kit at SAS.  It was a toss-up whether to use this one or the amazing fall mini-kit JulieO. gave away in our latest newsletter, but in the end the mega kit had more color variety and that wonderful wood grained paper by Candee, and so that’s what I chose. The template, as I said is by Sir Scrapalot and the font is Bix Antique Script.

Freebies with SAS:

Digitreats_doodle_overlay_3 Digitreats_doodle_tmp_5

I’ve been a bad blogger again

I’m starting to realize that Mondays and Tuesdays will have to be pretty much devoted to getting the SAS newsletter out.  It’s all finished, except for two little links I’m waiting for and will be going out tomorrow.  We’ve got four great freebies within the pages of the newsletter. They’re not hidden, but they’re not obvious either.  You’ll have to go page by page to find them.

Last time I blogged, I told you I had two more layouts to my first day of school series for you, so here they are:

Both LOs use A Kid’s World by Divine Digital.  In the first one, the background paper is by Royanna Fritschmann, the word art by  Wolf Randolph, the border by DeDe Smith. The frames are by Rose Made Designs and the font is Harrison.  In the one below, the background papers are by Royanna Fritschmann, the papers used for photo frame are by Wolf Randolph, and the font is Pozo.

Supreme SAS-iness:

Digitreats_secret_preview_2
Pamela has the start of a new free kit, Secrets.  These colors match her Tina kit, which you can get at SAS. Kara has these really sweet Fall Leaves for you.
Heather has a Super Stars Freebie. Elizabeth also has Grungy Autumn papers for you.
Elizabeth and Sherah worked together on this completely amazing kit, Feelin’ Thankful and they each have a sample freebie for you. Here’s Elizabeth’s piece of the freebie, and here’s Sherah’s portion. JulieO. has the first part of her October blog freebie kit Delicious Berry Blue.  Just look at the amazing detail on that frame.

Other Good Stuff:

Danielle Corbitt has this cute October blog freebie. Acorn Designs has part 8 of Dogwood. You can get this kit to celebrate Digitals’ third birthday bash.
